Wiz Khalifa has canceled his show in Chula Vista, California following a fan’s death. He was supposed to perform on Saturday (Aug. 23), but confirmed the cancelation on Twitter hours before the performance.
The rapper was slated to take the stage at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre but has since nixed the performance following the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old fan that took place backstage at his show in Mountain View, Calif., on Aug. 22.
“Due to a situation out of our control, tonight’s UTIOM show is cancelled,” he tweeted following the report. “This was a senseless tragedy. Violence is never the answer. My prayers go out to the victim’s family.”
Further details about the show were not made available at press time. Khalifa’s next gig is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 24 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine. Calif.
